Auto Body Maintenance tips from Seattle Dent Repair Man

Dent repair, scratch removal and preventative auto body maintenance will keep your car looking its best while maintaining its resale value. Your car is exposed to damaging elements every day, including harsh sunlight, tree sap, bird droppings, insects, tar and industrial material such as brake dust and rail dust. These elements dull the shine of your auto paint surface and eventually lead to rust and corrosion.

Here are some auto paint maintenance tips:

Keep plenty of clean, 100 percent cotton terry cloth towels for applying and removing auto care products. Professional detailers prefer lamb’s wool or terry cloth to help draw dirt away from the paint.

Wash your car regularly. A clean surface dries more quickly than a dirty surface; dirt holds moisture, a major contributor to rust and corrosion.

Wax your car every few months to provide a protective shield against dirt, moisture, hot sun and other elements of our environment.

Always park your car in a cool, shady place when washing, waxing or performing any type of surface maintenance. Direct sunlight can leave water spots and cause polishes and waxes to bake onto the finish, making them hard to remove, causing damage to the paint.

Read the labels on all auto body care products to be sure they are right for your car’s finish. Follow all instructions carefully to avoid damaging the surface you are working to maintain and protect.

Detailing your vehicle by hand takes more time and effort than going through an automatic car wash but the results are well worth it.
